5 reasons to try a residential trip in autumn

Adventure awaits...

5 reasons secondary schools should try an autumn residential

Schools fight for dates in the summer but a residential at the beginning of the academic year has so many benefits for children and young people. Situated adjacent to the Menai Strait within 169 acres of National Trust parkland, our Anglesey centre accommodates up to 380 students and 55 staff, making it perfect for whole year secondary residential trips. Whether you choose to come to Conway Centres to reconnect children's minds after the summer holidays or use it as a secondary transition course for your year 7's - an Autumn residential could be perfect for you...

Facilities
Meet new friends and reconnect relationships

Research has found that 84% of secondary students felt that they had built relationships with the other students after their residential trip. Taking children away from the school setting early in the year and into a social environment will encourage children to feel more confident around their peers, giving them the opportunity to make new friends and reconnect friendships after the summer break.

Facilities
Team-building

Our secondary programmes have been tailored to encourage students to work together as a team with the same shared goals in mind. Focusing minds with unique teamwork activities supports students in making a positive contribution whilst increasing their initiative & responsibility. In tougher weather conditions, children and young people will have to work harder together with activities such as raft-building, mega SUP and abseiling.

Facilities
Back to school, back to learning

After a long six weeks of summer holidays, young people return to school with a rejuvenated enthusiasm, ready to learn. An autumn residential is an opportunity for your school to re-focus children’s minds for their targets and expectations, to ensure they are aiming high and know what to expect in the coming year. We can support with creating bespoke courses to suit the curriculum and your goals.

Facilities
Ready for the year ahead

79% of secondary students indicated that a residential trip had made them realise that what they learn at school is important to them. Whether you bring your KS5 to prepare them for their A-Levels, your KS4 to get them ready for their GCSEs or your year 7’s to help settle them in with a secondary transition course - students will leave their residential with an increased appetite for learning as they look forward to the year ahead.

Facilities
Reap the benefits for the whole year

We understand many schools have their residential trip at the end of the year as a reward for their learners… but when children and young people visit Conway Centres they take away so much more than just fantastic memories. Education is at the heart of all our activities, programmes and events - we are all about learning outcomes. Children and young people leave our centres learning something new and by visiting in the autumn term you will fully reap the benefits for the rest of the academic year.
