Activity: Abseiling
Anglesey
Abseiling requires the determination and courage to trust yourself, the centre staff and the equipment whilst you lower yourself down a vertical rock face. Abseiling is a perfect activity to learn how to cope with and manage anxiety and scary situations, in a safe and supportive environment. Pupils take responsibility as they control their own abseil rope, develop their confidence and learn the importance and satisfaction of being able to help and encourage others.
From the Conway Centre there is a beautiful 1.4km walk through woodland along the shore of the Menai Straits which brings you to a disused quarry. Alternatively, you can embark on an exciting boat ride down the Menai Straits to get there. At the quarry we have a purpose built abseil down the rock face. There are also other locations off site (meaning a minibus would be needed) that are available to challenge pupils on an abseil.
