An immersive and reflective journey through the stories from World religions which celebrate the importance of light in the darkness: exploring Hannukah, Diwali and Advent through art, dance, drama and music workshops… Our activities will draw upon the sights, sounds and stories of these festival and take inspiration from the outdoor surroundings in our residential centres. This course is Ideal for Upper Key Stage 2 and Lower Key Stage 3 learners.

Our centres provide an opportunity for groups to come together and share experiences which will last a lifetime. The facilities at our residential centres are designed to support schools in enriching the usual provision. The opportunities to engage learners through the arts also give teachers a way to uncover talent that may not be seen otherwise.

Day 1

Travel to Centre
You may wish to visit one of our partner organisation en route – please ask our Booking Team about this!
From 12.00pm Arrival at Centre and sort out dormitories
1.00pm Lunch
2.00pm Meet the Team: Introduction to the course tutors and the theme for your Festival of Light residential
2.30pm – 4.45pm (including 15 minute break) Session 1 Art Sessions to include:

Diwali; Diya lamps, Rangoli pattens, Rama and Sita puppets
Advent; Wicker and tissue lanterns
Hannukah; Batik/Wire menorah
Drama / Storytelling Dance; Rama and Sita / Hannukah
Music; Exploring Light and Dark through creative compositions
5.00pm Evening Meal
6.30pm – 8.30pm Session 2
