Pond Dipping

Anglesey I Tattenhall I Delamere I Burwardsley

Activity: Pond Dipping & Study

Anglesey I Tattenhall I Delamere I Burwardsley

Use the nets and find out what lives in the pond in the centre grounds. Use the identification charts to work out what they are, learning how they live and have adapted to that environment. This fits in brilliantly with Key Stage 2 and 3 science and biology.

At Delamere it can be combined with a short walk to a stream. At Burwardsley and Tattenhall it will be combined with another half session activity such as orienteering or problem solving.

Desired Outcomes
  • Excitement and interest in the natural world
  • Knowledge of food chains, life cycles, predator/prey relationships appropriate to age
  • Use of key to identify animals if appropriate to age
  • Comparison of habitats at Delamere
